Upskill Games is an independent tabletop game designer and publisher based in Ontario, Canada. We build games that replace boring textbooks and confusing courses with genuine game nights around the table.
Why we make games
Like a lot of parents, we wanted to teach our kids practical skills that actually matter in the real world: how money works, how risk works, and how to stay calm when numbers change quickly.
When we first learned about stock options, everything was either a 400-page dry textbook, an overwhelming trading screen, or an expensive seminar. The theory felt disconnected from reality, and the fear of clicking the wrong button with real money on the line kept us hesitant for months.
Our family has always loved board games. So we took real stock option mechanics and turned them into dice rolls, sliding price rulers, and tactile cards, making the concepts click in an afternoon.
That idea became Option Chain. We tested early versions on plain paper with handwritten tokens, playing round after round until the rules felt intuitive for beginners while staying fun and competitive for experienced tabletop players.
